H-E PARTS INTERNATIONAL ACQUIRES BIRRANA ENGINEERING, A GLOBAL LEADER IN THE DESIGN, MANUFACTURE AND REBUILD OF MOBILE MINING EQUIPMENT AND NAMES IAN OLIVIERI AS HEAD OF ITS NEW "H-E PARTS AUSTRALIA" SUBSIDIARY
Atlanta - Monday, March 17, 2008 - H-E Parts International, LLC, today announced it has completed the acquisition of Birrana Engineering Pty Ltd (Birrana), "the Wheel Group Specialists" and one of the world leaders in the rebuild and servicing of mobile mining equipment. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Atlanta-based H-E Parts International (www.h-epartsinternational.com) is headed by J.P. Richard, the former CEO of Massey Ferguson and AGCO Corporation (NYSE: AG), a global leader in farm equipment and parts distribution, and is funded by Frontenac Company (www.Frontenac.com). a Chicago-based private equity firm. J.P. Richard was also formerly the CEO of Pro Mach, Inc., another company financed by Frontenac. J.P. Richard said, "H-E Parts International is a new company formed with the objective of becoming the premier non-OEM global supplier of quality parts, equipment and remanufacturing services to the worldwide mining and heavy construction industries. The acquisition in February 2006 of Dom-Ex, the largest North American distributor of reconditioned heavy equipment and parts, followed by the acquisitions of Tractoamerica in May 2006, Grace Track Service in November 2006, Getco in March 2007 and now Birrana are major steps toward achieving this goal".
As in the case with other H-E Parts International acquisitions, John Allison, as head of Birrana, and his entire management team will remain in place. Birrana is the first acquisition of H-E Parts International in Australia, where the mining sector is experiencing an unprecedented boom. H-E Parts International continues to evaluate other potential strategic opportunities in this same domain.
Commenting about the acquisition, John Allison said, "This is going to be a win-win situation for both H-E Parts International and Birrana's customers, suppliers and employees. Birrana will have access to new capital to finance it's growth and will become a major strategic partner of all other members of the H-E Parts International organization, benefiting from the numerous marketing and supply synergies available among these members worldwide. This is exciting news for all of us, and I am looking forward to being a key participant in helping both Birrana and H-E Parts International achieve their objectives."
As H-E Parts International expands its presence in Australia, Ian Olivieri, who spent the bulk of his career with Komatsu Australia where he was Managing Director from July 1997 to July 2004, is the ideal candidate to supervise this expansion. As the Managing Director of H-E Parts Australia, Ian Olivieri will report to J.P. Richard of Atlanta, Georgia and will also help with the coordination of all Australian-based companies' activities with those of their counterparts in the Americas.
